Kicking off the programme below is an introduction from Chia Hock Lai, co-founder of the Global Fintech Institute, who chaired the independent judging panel.
Good evening, esteemed guests, innovators, and leaders of the fintech community. On behalf of FinTech Intel, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2024 Asia Fintech Awards, where we come together to honour the outstanding achievements of organizations and professionals across the vibrant fintech sector in Asia.
I am Hock Lai, and I am honoured to serve as the chairperson of the judging panel for this year’s Asia Fintech Awards again.
As we gather here tonight, we reflect on a year that has seen fintech become even more integral to our daily lives. The submissions we received this year have showcased remarkable resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to addressing the evolving needs of customers in an increasingly digital world.
In 2024, our industry continues to face a shared challenge: how to meet the rapidly changing demands of customers while navigating economic uncertainties and regulatory complexities. We’ve witnessed an explosion of AI-driven solutions, advancements in blockchain technology, and a growing emphasis on sustainable and inclusive finance. These innovations remind us that at the core of fintech are individuals—people with unique needs, aspirations, and challenges.
As we slowly emerge from the tech winter that defined much of the previous year, these awards underscore the critical importance of adaptability and customer-centricity. The past months have reinforced the need for a robust product-market fit and the value of keeping the customer at the heart of our strategies. Those who have successfully aligned their offerings with market demands have not only survived but thrived, demonstrating the resilience and innovative spirit that defines our industry.
In evaluating this year’s submissions, we sought out those who have gone above and beyond in delivering exceptional customer experiences, promoting financial inclusion, or pioneering sustainable fintech solutions. We looked for innovators who have not just adapted to change but have been at the forefront of driving it, setting new standards for what’s possible in our industry.
The calibre of entries we received is a testament to the incredible work being done across Asia’s fintech landscape. Whether winners or not, the high standards exhibited by all participants are cause for celebration and inspire confidence in the future of our sector.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who submitted entries for these prestigious awards. To the outstanding winners, my warmest congratulations. To my fellow judges, thank you for your diligence and insight. And to each one of you here tonight, thank you for your ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence, which continues to cement our industry’s position as a global leader in financial technology.
As we look to the future, let us remember that our work has the power to transform lives, businesses, and economies. Let’s continue to innovate, collaborate, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in fintech.
