Kicking off the programme below is an introduction from Chia Hock Lai, co-founder of the Global Fintech Institute, who chaired the independent judging panel.
On behalf of FinTech Intel, welcome to the 2023 Asia Fintech Awards. We gather to celebrate the accomplishments of organisations and professionals from across the fintech sector in Asia.
I am Hock Lai. It has been my privilege to serve as the chairperson of the judging panel for the 2023 Asia Fintech Awards.
Fintech innovations are central to our daily lives. The submissions we received showcased the remarkable innovation, adaptability, and empathy by the financial industry in fulfilling its crucial promises to customers.
Every organisation represented here tonight faces a shared challenge: how to meet the ever-changing demands of customers while keeping costs to a minimum. As we witness an increasing range of innovative solutions designed to address customer needs and the expanding use of technology to optimise efficiency and effectiveness, it is vital to remember that at the heart of fintech are individuals—people with unique characteristics and specific requirements.
Even amidst the challenges of the tech winter, these awards emphasise the criticality of establishing a solid product-market fit and keeping the customer at the forefront of our strategies. They remind us that aligning our products and services with the specific needs and demands of the market is vital to achieving profitability in our industry. Especially during this challenging period. As we navigate the obstacles presented by the tech winter and its impact on businesses, it is crucial to take pride in our ability to adapt and forge a path to profitability by continuously refining our product-market fit. By focusing on meeting customer requirements effectively, we can position ourselves for success and demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity.
When evaluating the award submissions, we sought out organisations and individuals who went beyond business as usual. Those who excelled in delivering exceptional customer experiences or challenged existing norms to improve our industry. Regardless of whether they emerged as winners, the abundance of submissions that met such high standards is cause for collective celebration tonight.
I would like to express my gratitude to all those who took the time to submit their entries for these significant awards, congratulate the outstanding winners, acknowledge the remarkable contributions of my fellow judges, and extend my appreciation to each and every one of you for your role in cementing our industry’s reputation as a truly world-leading force.
